Earth Day Magazine
Design a twice a year style magazine (print and tablet) that compliments Earth Day’s successful, well established web presence, social media and other marketing tools. The target audience is a mix of existing Earth Day participants, but especially the untapped audience unfamiliar with Earth Day. Things to include are a title/masthead, cover, and three spreads for an Earth Day related story.
I researched Earth Day, its significance, and ways to be more environmentally friendly. I reviewed the Earth Day website to understand the type of content that is in line with its values in order to know what stories could be featured in the magazine. After finding an appropriate story I created graphics that related to the story and also found images that did the same. The graphics and pictures allowed interaction between the text and imagery.
The finished magazine titled “Resurgence” is a magazine that focuses on how to make the planet more sustainable. The story featured is about the use of robots in agricultural farming. The print version demonstrates the interaction between the text and the graphics and images. The digital version demonstrates easy to follow navigation through the magazine and a drop menu bar that is always accessible. The digital version also supports interactivity with media links, and social media that are mentioned in the story.
